  1. Offer clothes that allow for independence: shirts that easily pull over her head, bottoms with an elastic waist, Velcro-style fastenings, and snap fastenings that she can do for herself.
  1. Make a few choices of your child’s clothes accessible by hanging a low bar at child height for clothes on hangers. 
  1. Show your child what to do by slowing down your movements and breaking each action down into simple steps that your child can see and follow.

  1. To start with the kid may find it difficult to choose. Allow time to think and always go along with his choice. Soon you will find that suggesting that ‘we get dressed’ is greeted with smiles rather than a tantrum.
  1. Provide a low mirror and a child-sized brush and comb for combing hair.
