Are you passionate about guiding young students through critical transitions?
This seminar is designed to provide you with essential tools and insights to support children transitioning from preschool or Montessori Children’s House to the exciting world of elementary school.
Transition at the age of 6
The 6-year-old is on the borderline between kindergarten and school, but this is just one of the transitions they go through at this age. The child is experiencing in a very real way the beginning of a new period in his or her life, marked by several slow but essential psychological awakenings: the rational mind, imagination, moral awareness and social awareness. What are the signs of these awakenings and how do we observe them in children around this age? How do we help and encourage our children in kindergarten and school to practice each new psychological acquisition?
This two day workshop is designed to provide Montessori educators with an understanding of how to support these new characteristics by building essential skills for individual work and group collaboration. We will look at the role of small group presentations and how to support children developing the ability to engage in cooperative follow-up activities.
Together we will explore games and activities that you can take back with you to the classroom and use with the children.
